Expanding Your Horizons
Expanding Your Horizons is a conference for 7th, 8th and 9th grade young women held annually at North Dakota State University in partnership with Minnesota State University Moorhead, Community College and Veteran's Administration Hospital.
The conference seeks to foster awareness of career opportunities for women in mathematics and science-related fields and to provide students an opportunity to meet and form personal contacts with women working in traditionally male occupations.
The NDSU Emergency Management Program has participated in the conference for two years now. The NDSU team sponsors an Emergency Operation Center (EOC) simulation exercise that engages the girls in response activities within an EOC framework.
