D.K. Yoon joined the Department in the Fall of 2007. His current research interests encompass planning and policy for natural hazards, risk and vulnerability analysis, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS).

Dr. Yoon currently investigates how effectively public policies mitigate vulnerability to natural disasters by focusing on the quality of local land use and comprehensive plans and their implementation. He develops an empirical model to test how various socio-economic, demographic, and policy factors have shaped and changed regional vulnerability to natural hazards in the Gulf and Atlantic coastal areas.
